Travel – NYC and NJ Trip – Final Part – Flatotel NYC

West 52nd between 6th and 7th Avenues, NYC

I stayed at the Flatotel during my recent weekend trip to NYC. You can’t beat the location of this hotel. It isn’t a half a block walk to Broadway with adjoining breezeways to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and a plethora of well regarded restaurants like Le Bernardin, Bar Americain, etc…

The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the door men and housekeeping. I have no complaints about the service.

I do however have a few complaints about the room itself. Apparently I had one of the rooms that had only been partially updated. It definitely needs further updating and repair. There was a hole in the wall in the kitchenette. There were many scuffs in the paint, especially around the closet. There was an obsolete VCR and a CRT style of TV. The toilet looked like something circa 1980s out the TV Show “Dynasty”; low, short and fat. I will give them one thing though: the room was very spacious by NYC standards.

One more complaint: the Continental breakfast was pathetic even if it was free. I’d rather pay and extra $20.00 and get a decent hot breakfast than eat that junk again.

Rate versus location versus overall cleanliness is the winner here. Stay here for those reasons only.

Flatotel: gets the job done. They could do better.
