New Orleans: Morning 5: Besthoff Sculpture Garden

On what turned out to be the prettiest day of my trip to New Orleans, I allotted much of my morning to the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden located in City Park. While I generally care little for art museums, I enjoy sculptures. Seeing that these ones would be scattered throughout a garden meant I would enjoy them even more. So I took a bus to the park and used my map to plot my path through it. More on that next week.

I entered the sculpture garden through an entrance to the right of the museum building. The paths loop around, interconnect, and even go under the road to the other side of the museum. I did my best to circle the garden without overlapping too much. With enough time on my hands, I walked the garden at a leisurely pace. All things together, I spent an hour and a half to two hours there, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Here is a sample of some of my favorite sculptures in the garden.
