Katy’s Dumplings in Westmont, Illinois

Recently, I searched up best international restaurants in Chicago suburbs and Katy’s Dumplings kept coming up and so I knew I needed to make my way over and check it out. Located in a small strip mall, the restaurant itself was packed. Thought that had to be a good sign. For the price that I paid for it, I was hoping for great results. I will admit that the food smelled amazing in my car, but when I actually began to eat it I was incredibly disappointed with everything as a whole.

I tried to order a few things from different parts of the menu just to get a better understanding of their food. The best thing that I had ordered was definitely their Crab Rangoon. Hard to mess that up though in my opinion. For a place with dumpling literally in their name you feel like they would have to be good. Very dry and felt like missing some flavor. Beef Chow Mein was decent, not the best but not the worst I’ve ever had. The Chicken Stir-Fried Pancake I was imagining it to be almost like a scallion pancake but it was basically chow mien but the noodles were fried. Was just kind of annoyed with everything in the end. I don’t know if I just got the wrong items, and I know that eating it in the restaurant itself is always better, but was not impressed. My overall rating is 4.5/10.
