How does traveling from the far South to Canterlot take less than a day in the MLP Movie?

Spoilers for the MLP Movie ahead.

So, in the MLP Movie, right after the Mane 6 gets thrown out of the sea ponies' home, and Twilight gets abducted, do the remaining 5 ponies (plus Spike, as well as their tag-along friends) decide that they need to travel all the way to Canterlot to save the day. This is fine, but they travel to Canterlot in presumably a few hours, which makes no sense. Why? Because traveling to the Crystal Empire from Ponyville takes presumably a few days, and that is like 3x closer.

Here is the map of Equestria.

The red circle at the bottom is where they were when they started traveling to Canterlot, the red line shows Canterlot.

The Black Pen shows where Ponyville is, and the trip from Ponyville to The Crystal Empire, which takes days.

Ponyville to The Crystal Empire takes days (or at least a day) to travel to and from…by train.

But literally, the farthest point South in the map to Canterlot takes a few hours, even though it is like 3x longer of a journey. They had no train, or balloon.

So how does this happen? Are there any canonical explanations to what this means?
