This is my second time in Nashville and I can say, without a doubt, Nashville is all about the MUSIC! And not just country music (though that is indeed phenomenal here,) but any and all genres. J and I attended a Couchsurfing meetup at the Nashville Farmer’s Market on Sunday afternoon, where we met tons of cool people from Austin and got some tips on heading down the Natchez Trace instead of going to Memphis. J and I cooked up some lentils and kale (still trying to save money!) and then went out on the town for a little honky tonk at Robert’s Western World, part of “Music Row” on Broadway.

We stayed with a friend and this guy:

His name’s Virgil and boy, he’s a sweetie.

Anyway… Monday was spent hiking around Radnor Lake State Natural Area and finding nearby geocaches. I’ve never been to a natural area with so many rules! They are posted throughout the entire park. You’re not even allowed to jog on the woodland trails. Despite its rules, the place offered us some much-needed exercise on a beautiful, sunny day.

Turtles near Radnor Lake!

We met up with our CS hosts, Franchesa and her husband, Bradley, and Franchesa took us out to Mercy Lounge for an event called 8 off 8th: 8 up and coming artists play short sets of 3 or 4 songs each. Artists are not always related music; last night we heard country, blues, folk, rock and roll, and something I still haven’t quite put my finger on…

the Kansas Bible Company. Mark my words, they will be superstars!

We’re heading off down towards Natchez, MS, today where J is one step closer to buzzing off his hair… woo hoo!

Thanks again, Nashville!
