Fantastic new picnic spot: Labrador Park

If you’re sick of the usual movie-dinner-drinks type of dates on the weekends, why not take advantage of the new Circle Line and try this small, little-known slice of picnic heaven?

Just hop on the train and alight at Labrador Park station and take a short ten minute walk to the seaside.

You could always explore the Labrador Nature Reserve if you’re up for a walk, but if you’re the type to sit and sip margaritas by the sea, keep walking till you see Labrador Park.

Brought our own packed sandwiches and salads and a nice selection of fresh berries for our picnic! These Korean grapes are crazy yummy!! Unlike the usual grapes we’re used to, these are really sweet and  slightly chewy. It has a Konnyaku jelly type consistency that makes for a fantastic dessert!

Beautiful view of the pale blue sea and the ships and boats offshore.

There weren’t many people in the park in the late afternoon except for these teenagers who spent nearly one and a half hours getting ready for a barbecue.

People were fishing all around. They caught mostly small fish but it was a nice, shady day and many of them had bottles of cold beer in coolers. Super shiok!

There were some pretty interesting monuments scattered around the park I wish I spent more time scrutinising. This one was called Machine Gun Post.

Labrador Park is actually minutes away from Harbourfront. In this photo, you can see the Superstar Virgo docked at its usual spot outside Vivocity in the extreme right corner of the picture. And also, some super futuristic-looking building on the left.

The stunning clear blue water you could dip your feet in. Ahhhhh…

We spotted these really cute mushrooms near where we were settled. LOVE mushrooms! They’re just so adorable!! (Don’t judge me.)

So if you’re sick of the concrete jungle and all the usual forms of entertainment, why not give Labrador Park a shot? No need to clean out that bank account or join the hordes of people in town. You’ll just need a picnic mat, some delicious food and great company. Have fun!
